The Pine Creek area is an outdoor enthusiasts dream come true. With thousands of acres of public land and hundreds of miles of State Forest roads and trails easily accessible from our location, the hunters, fishermen, hikers, camper's, canoers and kayakers, mountain bikers, snowmobilers and horseback riders can begin and end their adventures at McConnell's Country Store & Fly Shop.

The Pine Creek Rail Trail, a hiking and biking trail, traverses 62 miles of an abandoned railroad line from Ansonia, PA to Jersey Shore, PA This scenic trail takes the traveler through the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania which is one of the most scenic natural areas in Pennsylvania. The Pine Creek Gorge, commonly referred to as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania was recognized as a National Natural Landmark in 1968. This trail which adjoins our parking area was highlighted in the USA Today as one of the top 10 Rail Trails in the world. This trail is used by thousands of people who enjoy being out in nature. Along the way you are liable to see several of our "resident" bald eagles that are nesting and raising their young in our area, the playful river otters, whitetail deer, black bear, wild turkeys and occasionally a shy bobcat or wily coyote. There are thousands of acres of State Forest and State Game Lands available for public use within walking distance from our store.

Camping, swimming and boating is available 3 miles from the store at Little Pine State Park which have recently upgraded their facilities to include showers and flush toilets as well as upgrading their campsites and visitors center. There are several other private campgrounds within a short distance from the store.
